Tucson, U.S.A.: Stocking Diary 2011, Part 4

This is the second day of stocking up in Tucson.

Today, the cold has eased up a bit!
It was so cold that the fountain at the hotel froze, and it still seems to be quite unusually cold.

Well, today we are at the convention center, the most main venue of the Tucson Gem Fair.
This is the so-called trade fair center, where the exhibits are arranged quite spaciously in a large space with high ceilings.

It was especially refreshing to see so many American vendors, many of whom we rarely see at exhibitions in Hong Kong, Germany, and of course Tokyo.

However, I stocked up at a very fast pace yesterday, so today I will calm down a bit and take my time in setting my sights on the market.

After a quick tour of the venue, we decided on the approximate items we planned to purchase and walked out of the venue.
Next, we will head to Tucson's famous tent site.
The Tucson Mineral Show takes place throughout the city of Tucson for about a month or so each year, beginning in late January.
Centered around the main venue introduced earlier, venues will be scattered over a 2,30 km square, many of them in hotel or motel rooms and others in huge special tents, as shown in the photo below.

First of all, taking advantage of Tucson's location, where it is unlikely to rain, all venues are semi-open-air with awnings but no walls.

Each venue seems to have its own unique characteristics, but we first went to the three tent and motel venues, which are within walking distance of the main venue.

I immediately got a piece of rough Arizona turquoise from Tucson from an open-air vendor!
Even though it is a rough stone, its size and beauty can be used as it is for items such as rings and pendants.

The tent is basically mainly minerals, although there are some gemstones.
This is a large amethyst crystal that could fit an adult inside.

Quartz crystals much larger than a man's height. And they are not very expensive.
Who will buy it? Where do you put it? How do you take it with you?
The tent venue is full of surprises!

During this business trip to Singapore, the exhibition was held until 10 p.m. every day, and we often had to eat dinner late at night.
