Shanghai Handmade Soba "Yang Yang

It's been a while since we've had a lunch at Sancha, but here is our representative, Mr. Fujimori, with some information on carefully selected lunches at Sancha.

In this third installment, the real star of the show finally makes an appearance.

This is one of the oldest establishments in Sangenjaya. The store has had the exact same storefront and atmosphere since at least when the manager, Fujimori, faintly remembers it from his childhood.Sangenjaya's famous restaurant "Yan YanThe main store is in Sangenjaya, of course, but they also have a branch in Ginza. Sangenjaya is the main store, of course, but they also have a branch in Ginza.
Most of the female staff, including manager Fujimori, frequent Yan Yan, which at first glance appears to be a difficult place for a single woman to enter.

Speaking of Yang Yang, it is handmade soba. Please note that it is not ramen. It is Chinese soba.
Since most of the customers are locals, there is rarely a line because they leave easily when the restaurant is full, but it is generally crowded during lunch time and always ready to share a table.

As soon as you enter the restaurant, you can see the noodles being boldly handmade in the front window. Basically, they hand-fill the noodles every time you order. (Sometimes they don't...).

When you come to Yan Yan, the first thing you must order is their famous yaki gyoza (grilled dumplings). The thick, glutinous, handmade dumplings are cooked to perfection and look so cute. Even at lunch, you may be tempted to try the draft beer (sometimes they serve it). (Sometimes they serve it).
It comes in a plate of five, but if you go with two people, they will bake you six if you ask. This way there is no fighting.
Now, let's move on to the main course, noodles.

First is the restaurant's namesake, Yang Yang Noodle. The thickly simmered pork cubes and daikon radish are deliciously intertwined with the thick soy sauce-based bean paste.

When ordering noodles, despite the fact that handmade noodles are a specialty of the restaurant, the question "Do you want handmade or thin noodles? Do you want thin noodles?" Then they usually ask me, but I don't hesitate to order handmade noodles. However, sometimes the handmade noodles are out of stock, so I cry and choose thin noodles....

If you want to go light, we recommend "Torisoba (photo)" or "Moyashi Soba". The white soup based on chicken broth will fill your tired stomach with energy.

Manager Fujimori's favorite, Shanghai Fried Noodles. Many women eat this silently and alone.
We are both a little embarrassed when we are eating the same yakisoba face to face with a strange woman we are sharing a table with.

This is also Fujimori's favorite, "Cold Bang Bang Chicken.
The handmade noodles are more chewy and delicious when eaten cold. The sesame sauce soup is rich but not boring.

This is a summer-only menu item called "Ryoumen. It is a chilled Chinese-style dish, but the handmade noodles with plenty of fresh vegetables are a good match.

In addition to the handmade noodles, the fried rice with crispy lettuce is simple but very tasty, and since this is basically a Chinese restaurant, you can also choose a la carte dishes in the evening.
However, be careful not to have too much of this and too little of that, as you will be quite full after only noodles and dumplings.
Also, each menu item is about 700-1000 yen, so if you go with gyoza, beer, and noodles, the course is 2000 yen. Note that this is a bit expensive for lunch. (So don't order beer from noon, I guess.)

The interior of the restaurant is not beautiful, and it has a unique and unapproachable atmosphere, so it is not a restaurant that I would recommend to everyone, but in a way, I think it is the most Sancha-like lunch spot. I would like to encourage you to be brave and step inside once (laughs).
