Hello, I am Nakai, an Adan staff member.
Yesterday, I visited the exhibition "Brazilian Indigenous Chairs," which is only a few days away from its opening, and I would like to report on the exhibition.
About a 7-minute walk from Meguro Station.Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
This was my first visit and I loved its appearance.
The museum is located in a magnificent garden, as it is called a "garden" museum.
Originally the residence of the former Asakamiya family, it was built in 1906, strongly influenced by France at the height of Art Deco.
I understand that it is currently being used as a museum with little interior remodeling,
It is designated as a national important cultural property as a valuable building from the early Showa period that retains the Art Deco style.
As for the exhibit, as the title suggests, handmade chairs made by indigenous Brazilians were on display everywhere.
The motifs are all wild animals that we see locally.
Monkeys and birds dominate the area,
It was an indispensable item deeply rooted in the lives of the indigenous people, used in daily life and for special occasions such as shamanistic ceremonies and weddings.
Some of them are unusual, such as bats and stingrays.
The monkey in the Superman pose was very cute.
Moved from the first and second floor exhibition rooms to the new building,
The last large room we entered.
There are works of art all over the walls,
The style can be viewed while relaxing on the white beaded cushion in the center.
This space was very soothing.
A bulky jaguar is right in front of you.
The armadillo is unique to the South American continent.
Also, the work in the back is a fish.
Among my favorites are,
It was this little jaguar.
It is a loose design,
It captures the essence of animals, and the more you look at it, the more you can feel the heartwarming warmth.
Tomorrow will be the last day!
Why not visit for a three-day weekend?
