Times have changed. A young man is walking down the street with a baby on his chest.
It is a common sight to see young fathers. Until a decade ago, this was unthinkable.
Childbirth and childcare were women's duties. Men used to run away to work, to earn money. But the way things are now are more wonderful, and I feel a new era.
I immediately decided to use it as the theme for this year's Sangyo exhibition, to be held at the National Art Center, Tokyo, and for the sculptures.
In the arms of the young dad's heart, the child took on a warped pose, taking the form of a growing life.
Young couples, women are active in society, men are raising children and creating a family together.
It would be a necessary lifestyle to maintain peaceful times.
