I am Fujimori, the representative.
Recently, on Wednesday, November 2,Project Yui" supports play and learning for children in the affected areasIn a project conducted in cooperation withLecturer for career education seminar at Momo Junior High School in Ishinomaki CityI went out as a
This career education seminar is an annual event at Momo Junior High School, where local professionals are invited as lecturers for all students. This year, however, due to the earthquake, we were unable to recruit local lecturers.

As someone who works in the jewelry industry, I was invited as one of the lecturers, so I went to the event.
We will not be able to make it from Tokyo if we travel on the same day,The project will be staying in Ishinomaki the night before and is the base for Project Yui's volunteer activities in Ishinomaki,Minato Suisan We stayed at theThe following is a list of the most common problems with the
Minato Suisan was also severely damaged by the tsunami at the time of the earthquake, flooding its factory, store, and even the second floor of its home building. Immediately after the disaster, more than 80 local residents were evacuated to a break room on the third floor of the barely-safe factory.
Then, with the help of volunteers, what a surprise!A threatened tarako shop that resumed production less than two months after the earthquake. It is.

The house is currently being used as a base of operations for Project Yui, and we were invited to stay in the break room on the third floor of the factory.
More than a dozen instructors stayed with us. They were a fascinating group of people, including a world-renowned photographer, the editorial board chairman of a newspaper, a CRS representative from a major manufacturer and a TV station, a producer of a theater company, a hairdresser, and others. We talked until late into the night about everything from what we thought the junior high school students would like to hear about tomorrow, to their respective jobs, to the volunteer work they are involved in, to the future of post-disaster Japan, which the junior high school students will be living in. It was truly an inspiring and valuable evening.
On the morning of the day of the seminar, I wanted to get a feel for the current state of Ishinomaki before the seminar (I had arrived the day before at night, when the sun had already set), so I got up around 6:00 a.m. and drove for about an hour around the coastal areas and shopping streets that had been heavily damaged by the tsunami, placing myself for the first time among the affected areas.
The rubble had been cleared away, and roads, bridges, buildings, and various facilities were being rebuilt, but the air, wind, colors, smells, light, and sounds of an empty coastal area in the early morning.
The atmosphere, or rather the space, which was different from that of artificially destroyed, entered my body with a rush.
At 9:30 a.m., finally.Momo Junior High School, Ishinomaki CityArrival at
This junior high school is located slightly inland and fortunately was not damaged by the tsunami, but it seems that immediately after the earthquake there was a shortage of supplies and other difficulties.Located in a beautiful mountain village, it is a lovely middle school where some students cross the river by ferry to get to school.
First, all the instructors gathered for a preliminary meeting.
In addition to those with us from last night, 25 people gathered, including pilots and CAs, actors and their managers, bankers, insurance companies, counselors, designers, and various other people who are really active in various fields.
The chime for the end of the second period rings, and the student in charge comes to pick me up and we finally go to the classroom.
Classes begin!
Using the photos and movies we have prepared, we first explain the design and creation of the jewelry.
The participants actually held in their hands rough quartz stones and stones with rather unusual crystals that they had purchased in Brazil, as well as jewelry of various designs, and were able to experience the wide range of jewelry.
The first seminar was all girls, and I thought it was girls who were interested in jewelry, but the second seminar was half boys, and I was very happy to see how the students, who showed no interest at all at first, gradually became interested in the craftsmanship of jewelry and responded well. I was very happy to see their reaction.
I won't go into the details of the content, but the following three things were conveyed about the appeal of working in jewelry.
1) Jewelry is one of the few products in which one person can do all the work (design, purchasing, production, customer service, etc.).
(2) The ability to create products that take advantage of the charm and value inherent in nature, such as gemstones and precious metals.
(3) Above all, it is a job that is basically involved in the happy occasions of life.
As for advice for your future and career path, I would like to say that in order to work in jewelry, all your sense and experience will come into play, and you will be able to use your charm in your work, but there is no clear path to work and success,Please don't be afraid to live a different life, and don't be afraid to be different, because that is what makes you attractive.I told them.
After the two classes were successfully completed, we decided to have lunch together with the students directly.
Due to the earthquake, the school lunch center has not reopened and the menu is still very limited. They are not allowed to wash dishes, so they each take their own dishes home to wash at home.
But it was my first school lunch in over 20 years, and it was very good!
It was a nostalgic scene of people with big appetites deciding who would eat the leftover bread by playing rock-paper-scissors with each other (laughs).
After lunch, all the lecturers returned to the library to share their impressions one by one and write their messages to the junior high school students on colored paper.

After that, we left the middle school,A little help with Project Yui's ongoing volunteer activities at temporary housing in IshinomakiI have done so.
This is a volunteer activity to support after-school activities for children and elderly people by providing a playground at a meeting place in a hypothetical housing complex on a regular basis.

↑upPreparing the meeting place to be a playground before the children arrive.
There was a nostalgic baseball board (an amazingly evolved version of a baseball board) that I couldn't help but play with.
First, we paraded around the hypothetical housing to gather the children. At first, when we went to the meeting place and invited the children to play together, they were at a loss as they could not quite grasp the distance between us and the children, but as we played chanbara outside and played chase, they gradually opened up and ran around together.I guess boys still want to run around outside~!I felt strongly about this.
Eventually, as it grew dark outside, the children who had been playing outside soon found themselves in the meeting place, playing with their XBOX Kinects, making handicraft accessories, and baking cookies.
At this point, my time was up and I left for Tokyo, not waiting for the end of today's activity time at the meeting place.
On my way home, I greeted Mr. Kimura, president of Minato Suisan and his wife, who also suffered from tsunami damage and just reopened for business in September.Ishinomaki Yakisoba Restaurant "Fujiya Shokudo After eating delicious Ishinomaki yakisoba while listening to the master's passion for yakisoba, we headed back to Tokyo.
We arrived in Tokyo at 2 am.
The trip to Ishinomaki was quite a forced one,The pure and strong curiosity of the junior high school students, the bursting energy of the children in the temporary housing, the people of Minato Suisan who welcomed us with smiles and never faltered in the face of the tsunami, the Yui members and volunteers working in Ishinomaki, and the lecturers who conducted the seminar with us, provided us with a lot of inspiration and suggestions for the next step. I received a lot of inspiration and suggestions for the next step. The following is a list of the most common problems with the
Thank you all for this valuable opportunity.
