Hello, my name is Masada, an Adan staff member.
I was looking for something to watch a movie,
"The Metropolitan Opera House of New York (a.k.a. MET) will present
The world's finest operas will be screened in cinemas throughout Japan."
I can't believe how easy it is to enjoy opera with such a written text!
I was interested in this.
This time I watched "Dialogues of the Carmelite Nuns".
This is a true story about the lives of nuns who were at the mercy of the French Revolution.
The actress Isabelle Leonard, who plays the lead role of Blanche, is very beautiful and stunning, but
The expression and atmosphere of the opera was even better than it looked.
And Carita Mattila's uncanny performance as the abbess was gripping and memorable for its power.
Strong-willed nuns live resolutely, but in the end they are condemned to death by the revolutionary government.
From there, it is very spectacular, with beautiful Poulenc music and heartbreakingly unfulfilling sentiments.
Even though I am a novice to opera, and even though it was three hours long, I was never bored and was left overwhelmed.
Although the screening has already ended, we will keep an eye on the MET in the future.
