Exhibition Report] "Turkish Treasures" at the Crossroads of East and West @ The National Art Center, Tokyo

This is Kubota from Adan Staff.

The National Art Center, Tokyo, "Treasures of Turkey" exhibition.I have been to the
I like exotic patterns like Moroccan tiles,I am excited to see this poster.

I visited with little prior information about Turkish culture,

The first thing you see when you enter the exhibition room is an introduction to the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. The intervention movie was playing, so it was very easy for beginners to understand.

Topkapi Palace seemed to be a luxurious palace anyway,

Joke-sized gems are not limited to jewelry, but "water bottles."I can't say I'm surprised to find them scattered in everyday items such asIt was.

The exhibits are introduced a little on the website of this exhibition. They are all remarkable, including a dagger with an emerald handle.

The word "supreme treasure" was the perfect word to describe it.

For reference, the size of the emerald on that dagger, 7 cm or something,

I was a little confused by the unit of measurement, since I usually deal with gems in mm.I was very pleased with the results.

The venue was not too crowded, probably because I visited on a weekday,I have been enjoying the treasures so much that I could hardly take my eyes off them.

The more you look closely, the more you see,Even the smallest details are carved with beautiful curves,

Considering that everything was done by hand, including the workmanship on the back, it's hard to imagine. These are works of art that took a lot of time and effort to create.

It was great.

As an exhibition venue, it is like a palace, with its openwork decorative windows and,

Each exhibition room is separated by partitions cut in a curved pattern.I had a bit of a palace experience at the

I enjoyed the cute tile-like patterns on the walls.

During Golden Week, an event where you can dress up in Turkish costumes and have your photo takenThe event will also include a "Bird's Nest" and other events.

For those who prefer to relax in Tokyo, why don't you visit as if you were on a mini trip abroad? Is it?

By the way, "Vienna Modern" is being held one floor below. The exhibition also looked fun...!

A Golden Week of museum-hopping is a good idea.
