This is Kubota from Adan Staff.
This is a continuation of the New Caledonia travelogue, in which we were finally able to leave after a full day of flight delays.
Click here to read the previous blog.
What was so chilling about the one-day delay was that I had actually arranged a ticket to a remote island the next day.
The next morning, we were scheduled to leave for Ile des Pins, our first destination, by ferry at 7:00 a.m. So, when we arrived at the hotel, we tried to book a cab transfer to the ferry terminal.................but the lady at the front desk looked a little reluctant, and we felt a little uneasy................... ...
To my surprise, I heard that cabs in New Caledonia are not open 24 hours a day...!
The terminal said to meet at 6:00, so I wanted to leave around 5:30,
She said, "I wonder if they will let me drive out at 6 o'clock just in time. I'll call her anyway, but I don't know if she'll be awake."
I was thinking about walking, at worst, when I managed to get a phone call and was told that I could pick up my child!
Well, it was good.
Everyone, if you take a cab in New Caledonia, please be careful of the time!
The next morning we managed to board the ferry for the two-hour trip to Ildepan.
It was early in the morning, so I fell asleep halfway through and woke up to...
The color of the sea!
Noumea was beautiful, but the beauty of Ildepan left me speechless!
If I were to compare it to a gemstone, it would be Paraiba Tourmaline. My sleep-deprived body woke up at once!

We stayed at the Hotel Kubny facing Kut Beach, about a 10-minute walk from the terminal.
This is the area of the sandy beach seen on the other side of the river in the photo above.
Right in front of the hotel is a beautiful, calm, white beach, and the ultra-fine powder sand is sure to impress if you walk barefoot!
The bar is open to non-guests as well, and beer is available for about 1,000 yen, which is not so expensive compared to Tokyo.
I liked this bar anyway and used it often during my stay.
Breakfast is also available on the terrace, although it is hot.
Behind the hotel is another beautiful beach, Kanumela Beach.
After a short swim, you will come to a small island-like rock, around which there are many colorful fish that you have never seen before!
If you are looking for snorkeling, this is the place to go.
This clarity...you can see fish even at the edge of the waves.
New Caledonia is said to have many creatures that live only there, and once you dive into the ocean, you are in an aquarium world.
I will tell you more about its splendor in my next article on "Piscine naturelle natural pools"!
