This is Kubota from Adan Staff.
Recently, as the end of the year approaches, I have been wanting to go see a musical as a reward for the year.
In 2014, "Singin' in the rain" and ballet dancer Adam Cooper visited Japan to perform.
I was allowed to take pictures of the curtain call, so I snapped this shot.
The seats were quite far from the stage, but the ballet dancers were indeed beautiful and graceful down to the tips of their fingers, and the stage was full of comedic elements that would make anyone happy.
We will recreate that famous scene and it will actually rain on the stage...!
Last year I went to the 20th anniversary performance of my favorite musical, "Rent".
I had only seen the play in movies, so to be able to see it live was a moving experience!
I was looking for what to see this year when I found it!
You may have heard of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," the movie was released in 2001,
The director and star of the film, John Cameron Mitchell, is coming to Japan to play the lead role...!
That Hedwig is coming to Japan ......! This is the only way to go see the show.
But, however, it was too late to start moving and the general release was already sold out. The additional shows were also sold out. Even the standing-room-only and open-air equipment seats were sold out (T_T)... I have never felt more acutely aware of my weak information.
The only hope left was a ticket on the day of the show, and I was already prepared to wait until morning on the day of the show,
To my surprise, same-day tickets for this performance had to be reserved in advance by phone. I didn't know such day-of-performance tickets were available.
I was able to make a phone reservation without incident, but with the condition that I could not choose my seat type or seat number.
I would be happy to watch the show anywhere, so of course I'm OK with that.
Then, on the day of the event, when you give your reception number at the counter,
What a surprise!
I am in the 5th row of seats on the 1st floor...is this a dream?
It is true that the seats are at the end of the stage, so it is difficult to see the edge of the stage, but I am still too happy!
I was not at all expecting this dream to unfold, and when I entered the lobby, feeling like I was walking on a cloud, I was even more amazed.
There were many fans dressed in spirited costumes!
As those who have seen the movie will know, this person has arranged the cloak worn by the main character into a skirt!
He graciously agreed to take a commemorative photo of everyone.
That's so cool!
There were many other enthusiastic fans crowding in, and the excitement before the show started was fantastic!
Unfortunately, there are no photos of the contents of the important performances, but I have burned them firmly into my brain.
It is so overwhelmingly powerful that one does not feel the time that has passed since the film's release more than a decade ago.
I have never seen such a cute and energetic man in his fifties!
Although the show lasted only four days, I was very happy to have been able to participate in this valuable experience.
It's a sense of togetherness that you can't feel on the screen, and it's just too much fun to see it on stage.
With the energy I have received, I will continue to work hard through the remainder of this year and look forward to meeting new people next year!
