This is Kubota from Adan Staff.
The other day I harvested my first crop of chamomile growing on my balcony!
When it came to harvesting flowers, I had only ever cut and displayed them,
This is our first attempt to make herb tea.
I'm excited about everything for the first time.
Here are some chamomile plants at the beginning of blooming.
And here is the chamomile at harvest time↓.
The chamomile flowers are harvested when the petals are slightly shriveled down, as shown in this photo.
Compared to the first bloom, the center of the flower is puckered up like a different plant.
I was thinking of drying it out and letting it dry out before drinking it,
Since I was in the mood for a fresh drink, I decided to try it!
I don't really know how much, so I just put as much as I picked that day in the cup,
Pour boiling water and wait for about 5 minutes...
It turned a light yellow, just like chamomile tea.
The flavor was a bit subdued, so it would still be better to dry it out or add more of it (^^).
Chamomile tea, which is caffeine-free and relaxing, is the perfect beverage to drink before bedtime☆.
As a side note, it is called "camomilla" in Italian, and is a very popular herbal tea.
When I am not feeling well, I drink it with a lot of sugar.
This package, sogni d'oro = good dreams (a greeting of "good night"), looks like it will help you sleep well (^^).
It makes me kind of sleepy○. ◎ ○
